Meet Jorge Borrego

For Texas House District 118

Jorge's story began with hardship, but it did not end there. When he was 13, his father was incarcerated, and his family's life changed overnight. His mother worked as a cashier, including overnight shifts, doing everything she could to keep food on the table and hold the family together. Money was tight, the road ahead was uncertain, but in that struggle Jorge learned the values that would shape his life: faith, family, and hard work.

When Jorge left for college, his mother took him to the Greyhound station and handed him the last $10 she had. He carried a backpack with three shirts, one extra pair of jeans, and the weight of a family's sacrifice on his shoulders. What his mother gave him was more than ten dollars. She gave him a chance, a blessing, and a belief that in America, one generation's sacrifice can become the next generation's opportunity.

Jorge never forgot that. Through faith, work, and personal responsibility, he became the first in his family to graduate from college. He went on to build a career fighting for stronger schools, lower taxes, better opportunities, and a government that respects the families who pay the bills.

Now, as a husband, father, small business owner, and Republican candidate for State Representative, Jorge is running to protect the promise that changed his life. He believes Texas should be a place where work is rewarded, families are safe, schools are strong, and every child has a real chance to rise. In Austin, Jorge will fight to lower the cost of living, cut property taxes, keep neighborhoods safe, fund public schools, protect children, and make sure government listens to real Texans, not insiders, taxpayer-funded lobbyists, or career politicians.
